The Jones' generous bequest to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital furthers the good work of Ellsworth's community hospital while making an impact in the lives of Hancock County residents who rely on having high quality healthcare available close to home.
"We feel that residents of Ellsworth and surrounding towns are lucky to have Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital right here in town. Every member of our family has been treated in the Emergency Room at one time or another. It is great to be able to have lab work, x-rays, and other scans done without a trip to Bangor. Maine Coast has also been a source of good jobs for hundreds of local residents, and a satisfying place to serve as a volunteer.
The Mary Dow Center has probably made the biggest impact on our lives. It is wonderful to have a state-of-the-art infusion center where a patient can get therapy and testing, often saving a trip to Brewer, Bangor, or even Boston. The facilities are great, and the small size and wonderful staff create a warm and personal environment which is a comfort to every patient."
